Following supervision training and registration, ongoing professional development is essential. The real work of supervision begins once practice is underway, when supervisors are required to consider not only what to do, but how decisions are made, what influences those decisions, and how responsibility is held for both supervisee and client outcomes.

Supervision on Supervision (SOS) is a structured and reflective professional development process designed for supervisors who want to strengthen their practice. It provides a supportive, peer-informed space for supervisors to critically reflect on their decision-making, professional responsibilities, ethical awareness, and supervisory role.

Grounded in the ethical frameworks of PACFA, ACA, and CCAA, SOS supports supervisors to deepen their reflective capacity and maintain accountability in their work. The training explores the social, cultural, psychological, and relational influences that shape supervisory practice.

SOS assists supervisors to navigate the complexities of supervision, including:

  • Ethical decision-making
  • Power dynamics
  • Parallel process
  • Professional boundaries
  • Emotional load and practitioner wellbeing
  • Cultural and contextual influences
  • Responsibility for supervisee and client outcomes
  • Alignment with professional standards and client welfare

Through ongoing reflection, learning, and self-regulation, SOS enhances supervisory effectiveness and supports supervisors to practise with greater clarity, confidence, and integrity.

Effective supervision is not about perfection. It is about awareness, responsibility, and the willingness to continually reflect, learn, and adapt. SOS reinforces the supervisor’s role as a thoughtful, responsive, and ethically grounded leader in professional practice.
